The lens is often neglected in machine vision. Most of the user pay attention only to a number of pixels, forgetting that if the minimum point imaged by the lens is 20 µm diameter there is no sense of using 5µm pixels sensor … the same information is splitted over many pixels but the over-all resolution is that given by the lens.
